Gold Exchange Policy
Last updated: 1 November 2026
This policy outlines the terms under which old gold jewellery may be exchanged toward a new purchase.
1. Eligibility
Old gold jewellery of any purity may be brought to any Premlata Jeweller showroom to be exchanged toward the purchase of new jewellery, whether that new piece is bought in-showroom or reserved through premlatajeweller.com. Items need not have been originally purchased from Premlata Jeweller. As the old item must be physically assessed, gold exchange is completed in-showroom.
2. Valuation Process
Exchanged gold is assessed in your presence at the showroom as per standard testing procedure (acid/XRF/fire assay) carried out in your presence. The exchange value is calculated using the assessed purity and net metal weight (after removing stones, enamel, or other non-gold material) against the day's prevailing gold rate.
3. Wastage on Old Jewellery
A deduction for wastage may apply to old jewellery to account for stones, dust, and material lost during assay. The applicable wastage percentage is disclosed to you before the exchange is finalized and varies by item condition.
4. Making Charges on New Purchase
Making charges on the new jewellery being purchased are charged separately and are not offset by the exchange value of the old gold. These charges are displayed on the item's price tag or product page and confirmed on the final invoice.
5. Customer Consent
No exchange is processed without your explicit agreement to the assessed purity, weight, and resulting value. A detailed breakdown is provided on the invoice.
6. Booking an Exchange Visit
You can book a showroom visit for a gold exchange through our Book an Appointment page to avoid waiting time.
